Joanna Langfield says
Joanna Langfield I stayed at this facility. I would say their care is for long term patients, which I wasn’t, created a situation that was actually scary. I was the only person in an isolated wing. At night no one was around at all unless I rang my buzzer. Sometimes it took an hour. It also created a situation where the staff had to walk so far out of their way that coordination between my medication and bandage change for my wound vac (very painful) was off. The staff was sympathetic but what could they do? And now I have a $319 bill they refuse to pay though they hired an outside company when their own staff was gone. Why is their staff coordination my problem?
Their wound vac kept breaking and because the Doctor was gone they gave me medication for the wound change at the wrong time. So they claim they sent in the Doctors assistant. I don’t even remember her this happened so often. No one knew why the machine was breaking down or why the Nursing staff who was supposed to schedule my wound change wasn’t notified. They kept trying to give me medication I only wanted for the wound vac bandage change which is very painful. So apparently (their story keeps changing) because they didn’t know the machine was broken they gave the medication to me at the wrong time. The Doctor bills were covered but not this side company they hired. She arrived like any nurse on their staff. I didn’t even know she was called or remember her. Apparently I told her what I had told multiple people before: I’m allergic to medicine. Only under dire circumstances will I take it. So because Belmont made a mistake she had to add additional medication because the wound change was delayed.
Does anyone believe that a patient allergic to medication wants this? They tried to give it to me 3xs a day and I didn’t take it. Why would I take it then if not for their mistake? I wouldn’t.
So now this $319 bill. It turns out the Doctor was covered but not her because she worked for this auxiliary company. Again: Why is this my problem? I disputed the bill with the new person, Lora, and she says she doesn’t know anything about it that I should have contacted billing while I was there. I said that Amanda knew not to send services that weren’t covered under my plan. I didn’t even know there was a bill. I asked her to contact Amanda who was my contact there and Lora says she doesn’t know how to contact her. I disputed it with the outside company Lora told me Oaks at Belmont hired (Team Medical) when the Belmont staff (which was covered under my care plan was gone. I explained this would be a Belmont bill. But they said they couldn’t charge Belmont instead of me because Belmont said it was my bill. I disputed it with Medicare who hasn’t gotten back to me. I disputed it with Deanna at CARE at Spectrum Hospitals and she said that since I was released from the hospital they can’t do anything about it though they did arrange care for me there based on my coverage. Now I am in collections with HRG who say that it doesn’t matter that I disputed it, it’s in collections now so it’s my problem. I think this is a terrible way to treat a patient.
