Atlanta is a leader in area aging health centers
The Atlanta area is home to one of the fastest-growing older adult populations because of its booming, post-Great Recession economy. Industries have moved to the city, moving in most notably the film industry, and baby boom moving into avoid higher costs in the north and west. Atlanta is also emerging as an attractive place for seniors to age in place and receive long-term care. For persons living in the area or who are considering moving there, here are some excellent sources for finding Atlanta Area Aging Health Centers for seniors.

Emory’s Wesley Woods Geriatric health center
Emory University, one of the premier scientific research universities in the United States, applies research into state-of-the-art healthcare. At the Wesley Woods Geriatric Health Center cutting edge geriatric health research is conducted to deliver to seniors good care, from nursing to physicians to public health expertise. Seniors can receive dental care, movement disorder treatment, neurology resources including those applicable to Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and general geriatric care. Emory University’s Center for health in aging
Much like the Wesley Woods Geriatric Health Center, Emory’s Center for Health in Aging focuses on the multifaceted nature of senior care. Working with other universities and organizations in the Atlanta area, the center looks for ways to support healthy senior living beyond scans, tests and treatments. Instead, they seek social opportunities, medication management, and policy solutions to the problems seniors face. The center participates in multiple organizations that work to assure healthy senior living, including emergency elder abuse shelters, reporting organizations and the Georgia Fall Prevention Coalition. Veterans Affairs Centers
With locations in several metro Atlanta counties including Gwinnett and DeKalb, the Veterans Affairs health centers in Atlanta offer military veterans the opportunity to receive excellent care at little or no cost to them. Senior veterans can obtain hearing aids and batteries, low-cost eye examinations and glasses, and referrals to specialists through the VA and much more.
Senior Centers
Local senior centers, including those for seniors who still drive or remain active participants in their communities, are available in the Atlanta area. Many provide transportation, social and physical activities, nutrition and meal planning, and education on health and wellness.
