When it comes to heart health, meat consumption can play an influential role. Limiting red meats like steak and processed meats like bacon, while consuming lean proteins, can help lower the risk of developing heart disease and other health issues. For optimal health, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend consuming lean meats such as poultry and eggs, seafood, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds and soy products.
