The Intercultural Senior Center is a nonprofit organization that serves older adults and seniors, of whom many are immigrants and refugees from around the world. The organization specializes in creating a welcoming, supportive environment where this often-isolated group can make friends, take classes, and rediscover vibrant lives filled with dignity and purpose. Our program is five days per week, 8:00-2:00 each day, and the office is staffed 8:00-5:00. We provide door-to-door transportation service, and our educational programs consist of morning physical activity exercises (Tai-Chi and Zumba), basic English tutorials, literacy classes in Spanish, citizenship classes, computer and smart phone classes, civic engagement, workshops on health and nutrition, self-esteem activities, health screenings, dance, arts and crafts, sewing, and field trips into the community. Onsite social services include case management, mental health support groups, a foot care clinic, monthly food pantries, and one-on-one chronic health management checks with nurses. We provide a culturally appropriate noon meal to all participants from the Meals on Wheels program.
