Abbie Stutzer became a certified death doula in 2018. Upon finishing their certification, Abbie opened Gather the Leaves, a death guide business based in Kansas City, Missouri. Their death guide work centers on helping pets have peaceful deaths and educating pet owners about animal end-of-life care and after-care options. In the past, Abbie worked as a vet assistant and has provided hospice support for several pets. When Abbie isn’t writing or caring for their five pets (or the several community cats who orbit their home), they volunteer at their local animal shelter.
